COVID-19 Update - Protecting Our Members

COVID-19 Update - Protecting Our Members

Monday, March 16, 2020

Peace of Mind for You and Your Finances - At Parsons Federal Credit Union, the health and well-being of our members, associates, and communities is our top priority. We understand the concern and uncertainty you may be experiencing surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and are committed to being responsive to the needs of our members and associates as the situation evolves.

We are strictly following the guidance and recommendations set out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Public Health Department. We are also following social-distancing guidelines as outlined by Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), including eliminating handshaking. Our branch and ATMs are cleaned daily as part of our normal course of business. We have increased those efforts by regularly disinfecting surfaces throughout the day in areas with frequent points of contact, such as door handles, keyboards, PIN pads, and ATM screens.

During this time, we strongly encourage you to use our digital tools and other resources for self-service banking and 24/7 account access. You can access your  accounts online  or by using the  mobile app  at your convenience. From there, you can make payments, view transactions, check balances, find an ATM and more. It’s easier and faster (in most cases) to manage your account digitally, especially given call wait times may be longer than usual.

Branches & ATMs

As of today, we remain open with regular business hours. In the event we must close our Pasadena branch location, our call center is well-equipped and prepared to assist you with the level of service you are accustomed to. We are ready to serve our members without being face to face and are experienced in handling transactions remotely, due to our virtual business model. We will keep you updated if there are any changes to operating hours.

Safety and Security

You can rest assured that your money is secure. All member accounts are insured up to $500,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and by private share insurance through American Share Insurance (ASI), provided to our members at no cost to them.  Most banks only offer protection up to $250,000 with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

Business Continuity Preparedness

Parsons Federal Credit Union also actively reviews, exercises, and has ready a Business Continuity Plan to continue operations and ensure critical services remain available for members.

Steps You Can Take

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and hot water for 30 seconds before and after any money, card or ATM transactions
  • Conduct financial activities online or by phone (this includes applying for loans)
  • Be wary of potential scams. If anyone contacts you asking for personal information and claiming to be from your financial institution, do not share any of your account or personal information (including social security number or passwords). Instead, call us at: 1-800-765-4527 to confirm if it was a legitimate call.

We also understand that there may be instances where members find themselves facing financial difficulties. Parsons FCU is here to help and we encourage members who may be impacted to reach out to discuss how we might be of assistance.

We appreciate you being a member and will continue to communicate with you as the situation changes.

Sincerely,

K. Ray Crouse, President & CEO
